At our Committed to the Cure event, Komen Columbus recently recognized the efforts of outstanding individuals who continually give their time and talents in the quest ot end breast cancer forever.

The Pat Hughes Award of Inspiration - The Pat Hughes Award of Inspiration is awarded to a breast cancer Survivor who has inspired others and become a role model by being proactive in addressing Survivorship issues.

The 2007 award was presented to Mary Jenkins.

Mary was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006.  She has been described as strong, full of love and compassioin and always having a word of encouragement to share with others.

After learning first-hand the difficulties that occur when battling cancer, Mary decided to focus her energy and can-do attitude to assist other women faced with this challenge and established the non-profit organization, Christians Overcoming Cancer, a faith-based, non-profit organization helping Central Ohio cancer patients succeed on their road to recovery through Education, Support and Financial Relief.
